DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMS

REPORTS TO: Chief Programs Officer
DEPARTMENT: Programs
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Program Coordinators: 1 FTE, 2 PT, Commodities and Food Safety Manager 1 FTE, Garden Staff 2 PT, Operation Frontline Nutrition Manager, 1 FTE.
BASIC OBJECTIVE: To develop, implement and manage a variety of programs that bridge the gap between hunger and abundance in southern Colorado.
SALARY RANGE: $38,000-$45,000 plus benefits.

Feeding Programs and Nutrition Education

  • Oversees programmatic efforts ensuring compliance with Feeding America, State of Colorado and other relevant standards and guidelines.
  • Identifies strategic opportunities to improve efficiency of programs, increase resources available for programs, and/or grow programs and improve outreach.
  • Identifies opportunities to add additional programs and/or collaborate with community partners to participate in new programmatic initiatives.
  • Ensures adequate reporting of programmatic activities for Feeding America, grant/foundation, government, etc.
  • Ensures sites have appropriate agreements and documentation in place.
  • Ensures organizational education efforts are providing clients with tools, resources and knowledge needed to provide for their own long-term food security needs and/or improve their nutrition.
  • Ensures agency representatives are trained appropriately in accordance with local, state and Feeding America guidelines.
  • Support Operation Frontline staff.

USDA and Government Programs

  • Ensure compliance with all regulations for TEFAP, CSFP, other programs.

Safe Food Handling

  • Ensure compliance with Feeding America standards for safe food handling with partner agencies.

Local Food

  • Maintain Care and Share gardens.
  • Build and collaborate with community gardens.
  • Research and collaborate on community initiatives to improve access to local food.

Organization

  • Ensures direct reports are developed in a manner to execute job duties appropriately.

This position is based in Colorado Springs; however, applicant MUST BE WILLING TO TRAVEL THROUGHOUT SOUTHERN COLORADO.
